Hello, I am Robert Hartley, Principal of Stambaugh Middle School.
Welcome, and thank you for showing an interest in our school! Choosing a school for your child is a very important process regarding his/her educational future. The purpose of this message is to give you a chance to be a better informed shopper.
So, what does SMS offer?:
- A school enrollment of 878 students.
- We are the only school in Polk County to be a Positive Behavior Support Model school: a school which helps teachers and parents develop a safe and orderly environment for learning.
- The STEAM Academy: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics courses. A STEAM student can earn high school credit in Honors Algebra I, Geometry, Art, Science, Spanish, and Gifted.
- Our Extramural Athletic Program consists of boys and girls basketball, soccer, track, wrestling, golf, tennis, flag football, and girls volleyball. (To promote academic and social skills, there are requirements to participate in these programs.)
- We also have a wide variety of electives and clubs, such as astronomy, robotics, music, art, oceanography, and many more!
- For the past two years, we have offered a private one-hour tour of our school (while in session) to any parents or family interested in seeing the actual learning that takes place at Stambaugh every day.
