Stambaugh Middle School is located just north of U. S. highway 92 adjacent to Winter Haven, Florida and approximately 7 miles south of Interstate 4 in the beautiful town of Auburndale, a quiet and quaint town of approximately 13,000 people. The school which is adjacent to Auburndale High School used to be the old high school turned junior high school, to it's present day middle school status. Around 1979, the school was in the path of a tornado which destroyed most of the main building, except for the cafeteria and gymnasium. The school was rebuild around 1983 and has since added the Willis Building to accommodate more students. In 2009 a new gymnasium was added in place of the old one. It overlooks Lake Ariana and another small lake known as Stella, which lies between the school and the main town.
